    Description

Manufacturing Team Coordinator – Metal Fabrication & Machining

Location: Trenton, MI | Employment: Full-Time, Hourly | Shift: 6:00am–4:30pm

    Our Mission

At Steel Tool & Engineering, we turn complex aerospace designs into flight-ready hardware. As an AS9100-certified and NADCAP-accredited manufacturer, we’re relentless about safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

    Your Impact

Picture this: the day starts and a critical order is on deck. You confirm machines are ready, materials and tooling are staged, and staffing is aligned. In a crisp huddle, you set the tone—prioritizing safety and PPE, clarifying production goals, and highlighting quality checkpoints. Throughout the day, you guide the team using our 3‑Step Daily Leadership Process, ensuring standard work is followed and problems are surfaced early.

When a minor issue pops up—say a 5S lapse or a documentation gap—you correct it fast. When the stakes are higher—safety risks, customer-impacting defects, equipment failures, environmental concerns—you escalate decisively and coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, and Supervisors. You measure what matters: hourly output, scrap, downtime, and quality performance. At day’s end, you record results versus targets and hand off open items to the next shift or supervisor. Every shift, you identify at least one improvement and help drive Kaizen, A3 problem solving, and SMART goal execution.

    What You’ll Be Accountable For

    • Daily planning: review schedules/attainment, staffing, machine readiness, materials, and tooling.
    • Team alignment: run start-of-shift huddles; assign stations; clarify priorities and expectations.
    • Floor leadership: observe operations; confirm adherence to standard work; coach and train.
    • Performance tracking: monitor hourly output, scrap, downtime, and quality.
    • Issue management: resolve minor concerns immediately; escalate major ones rapidly.
    • Cross-functional communication: work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Supervisors.
    • Safety stewardship: enforce PPE and company policies at all times.
    • Shift closure: document results, downtime, quality, and safety notes; communicate to the next shift/supervisor.
    • Continuous improvement: identify opportunities; support Kaizen, A3s, and SMART goals.
