Salary Range: $95,000–$105,000 (Bonus Eligible)

Reports To: Plant Quality Leadership

Direct Reports: Up to 4 Quality Engineers

Job Overview

The Plant Quality Engineer is responsible for executing product and process quality controls in accordance with control plans and customer requirements. This role partners closely with production, engineering, and customer quality teams to ensure compliance, drive problem resolution, and support continuous improvement within the Duncan Plant manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and maintain production control plans throughout the life of the program
  • Lead 8D problem-solving activities for internal and external quality concerns, including direct coordination with Customer Quality Engineers
  • Support customer review meetings and weekly internal quality reporting
  • Ensure proper use, calibration, and maintenance of test and measurement equipment, including Poka-Yoke (“red rabbit”) verification
  • Collect, analyze, and react to manufacturing process data; maintain SPC and capability studies
  • Approve and maintain quality documentation, including control plans, work instructions, boundary samples, appearance books, and rework/inspection instructions
  • Ensure compliance with containment, rework, and inspection processes for non-conforming product
  • Lead disposition of non-conforming material and ensure timely resolution
  • Serve as Quality Lead for Fast Response System (FRS) activities
  • Coordinate internal sorting activities as required
  • Resolve quality issues related to capability, tolerancing, and materials
  • Perform and analyze process capability studies; recommend and validate process improvements
  • Participate in FMEA updates and modifications
  • Supervise Manufacturing Process Quality Inspectors and Auditors; oversee inspection and audit outputs
  • Exercise authority to stop production or shipment in cases of safety, environmental, or customer compliance risk

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution
  • 3–10 years of experience in automotive quality (3+ years strongly preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Auditing experience (internal and/or external)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience
