Our client, a precision components manufacturer, is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer for a contract engagement at their Buffalo production facility. This role supports quality assurance activities across CNC machining and assembly lines serving aerospace and industrial customers.
The Quality Engineer will work closely with production, engineering, and supplier quality teams to investigate nonconformances, maintain inspection standards, and support customer audits. Candidates should be comfortable reading engineering drawings and working with precision measurement equipment in a fast-paced shop environment.
This is a full-time, on-site contract position with potential for extension based on production demand and performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, and CMM equipment
- Investigate nonconformance reports and lead root cause analysis
- Maintain and update quality documentation including inspection plans and work instructions
- Support internal and customer audits including AS9100 requirements
- Collaborate with production supervisors to resolve quality issues on the shop floor
- Track and report quality metrics such as scrap rate and first pass yield
- Work with suppliers to resolve incoming material quality concerns
- Assist in PPAP and FAI submissions for new part introductions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent manufacturing quality experience
- 5 or more years of experience in a manufacturing quality role
- Experience with CMM programming or operation preferred
- Working knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills using tools such as 8D or fishbone diagrams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and quality management software
- Ability to stand and move throughout a production floor for extended periods
