We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Technician to join a fast-paced food manufacturing operation in Richmond, CA. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to established quality standards.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on food manufacturing quality experience, strong laboratory and analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of HACCP, GMPs, food safety programs, and regulatory requirements.
Perform product sampling, testing, plating, reading, and recording of test results
Troubleshoot out-of-specification results and assist with corrective actions
Review production records, including Critical Control Points, or CCPs, daily
Maintain accurate daily quality and laboratory records
Perform data entry, tracking, analysis, and interpretation of quality results
Follow QC Hold procedures for products that fall outside established specifications
Perform equipment calibration, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting
Evaluate testing trends, identify deficiencies, and communicate corrective action plans
Implement quality control processes and testing to ensure products meet established quality standards and specifications
Manage and maintain product specifications
Support follow-up activities related to customer complaints and coordinate with production
Coordinate HACCP team activities
Maintain and implement policies and procedures related to GMPs, food safety, and regulatory compliance
Provide or support required quality and food safety training
Monitor inventory of laboratory and sanitation supplies
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Support 5S standards and maintain an organized, safe work environment
Meet with the supervisor daily to discuss production and quality-related issues
Work closely with production employees and management to maintain high levels of safety, quality, and operational efficiency
Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Sanitation Practices, Food Safety requirements, Occupational Safety requirements, and established SOPs
Perform additional duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related science field plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, OR
Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience without a bachelor's degree
HACCP certification required
PCQI certification required
Knowledge of microbiological, physical, chemical, and organoleptic testing
Experience with food safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance requirements
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively with limited supervision
Proficiency with Windows-based computer programs and data entry
Experience with laboratory testing equipment, calibration, and maintenance
Ability and willingness to work overtime and occasional Saturdays as business needs require
Experience working within a GFSI-certified or GFSI-aligned environment
Previous quality assurance or quality control experience within food manufacturing, commercial bakery, or a related production environment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to safely climb ladders and work at elevated heights when performing inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and other job-related responsibilities
Ability to work in an active food manufacturing environment
