Job Summary: Supervise production shift in a large, complex, fast-paced food manufacturing facility (milk plant). Manage day-to-day operations, coach hourly teams to meet production, safety, and quality targets. Drive maximum financial results and on-time product delivery. 2 onsite positions in San Leandro, CA; swing shift 1-9 PM (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday); 40-50 hours/week.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise daily production activities and personnel across assigned shift.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, food safety, GMP, HACCP, and SOX standards.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions for variances.
  • Support execution of WIGs and plant improvement projects.
  • Communicate goals, updates, and metrics to the team regularly.
  • Train and mentor employees to achieve peak performance.
  • Ensure shift handoff and reporting processes are complete and accurate.
  • Resolve equipment or process issues quickly by partnering with Maintenance or QA.
  • Lead safety meetings and participate in incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance documentation is completed and filed properly.
  • Collaborate with scheduling, warehouse, and support teams for seamless operations.
  • Conduct pre-shift checks, floor walkthroughs, and shift-start meetings.
  • Monitor production lines for efficiency and rectify quality issues.
  • Coach associates, enforce GMP/PPE, and take corrective actions as needed.
Education & Experience:
  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 4+ years supervisory experience in food manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ years experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience directing diverse unionized workforce.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, safety programs, and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Dairy process knowledge preferred.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and business applications.
  • Functional Skills:
  • Ability to monitor KPIs, implement corrections, and resolve production issues.
  • Skills in training, shift handoffs, and cross-team collaboration.
Behavioral Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach, develop workers, and manage diverse unionized teams.
  • Ability to work onsite in noisy, cold milk plant with machinery and strict sanitation.
