    Description

    Manufacturing Process Optimization Engineer

Holland Sharpe is looking for a seasoned engineer to champion smarter, faster manufacturing. If you thrive on improving how things are built—eliminating waste, streamlining flow, and elevating quality—you’ll feel right at home in our fast-paced industrial environment.

    A day in the role

You kick off the morning on the production floor, reviewing KPIs and yesterday’s yield data to pinpoint bottlenecks. By mid-morning, you’re iterating a new cell layout in SolidWorks, checking GD&T compliance, and finalizing tooling tweaks. The afternoon shifts to troubleshooting: you dive into a recurring defect using root cause methods and update PLC/robot/CNC parameters. You close the day aligning a cross-functional schedule for a new product launch—keeping teams, timelines, and deliverables in sync.

    What you’ll take on

    • Architect and refine manufacturing processes with CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo), producing efficient line layouts and purpose-built tooling.
    • Own project schedules and coordinate cross-functional execution for process improvements and product introductions.
    • Lead root cause investigations on production issues; apply disciplined troubleshooting to quickly eliminate defects.
    • Program and sustain automation assets—PLCs, industrial robots, CNC equipment, and vision inspection systems.
    • Deploy Lean and Six Sigma to drive waste reduction, throughput gains, and measurable quality improvements.
    • Partner with operations on assembly line configuration, fabrication and welding practices, and plastics injection molding activities.
    • Analyze engineering data and KPIs to steer continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to GD&T requirements.

    What you bring

    • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field; advanced Lean or Six Sigma certifications preferred.
    • Demonstrated success in an industrial/manufacturing engineering position within a factory setting.
    • Deep proficiency with CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo) and CAM programming for machining.
    • Hands-on process engineering covering capital projects, robotics programming, CNC machining, welding, and fabrication.
    • Experience with PLCs and vision systems, with strong capability to diagnose complex equipment issues.
    • Project management strength: orchestrate schedules and align teams; prior factory experience is highly valued.
    • Sharp analytical mindset for data analysis and root cause work; practical application of Six Sigma tools.
    • Solid mechanical aptitude with familiarity in assembly operations and standard factory protocols.
