Shape the flow of a busy plant, one move at a time
Your workday begins as the second shift comes alive at 4:30 PM. You’ll scan incoming parts with RFGen, stage materials where they’re needed most, and keep production humming until 3:00 AM, Monday through Thursday. When overtime is available, you’ll have the option to stay and keep the momentum going. From the first pallet you secure to the last record you update, you are the engine behind safe, accurate, on-time movement of everything our teams touch.
Compensation and perks
- Starting wages from $18.60/hour
- +$0.50/hour night shift premium

The role
As a Material Handler, you’ll transport materials, supplies, and finished goods to the right place at the right time—safely and efficiently—while upholding the industry-leading safety standards that define Great Dane.
What you’ll make happen
- Receive, stage, and store items in designated, secure locations.
- Create and maintain accurate records for receipts and shipments (dates, locations, and other key details).
- Check shipments for quality and accuracy and verify all accompanying documents.
- Confirm shipping requirements or special instructions; fast-track any orders that impact production schedules.
- Move and load materials, supplies, and finished goods by hand and with hand trucks/skids.
- Optimize and secure loads for safe, efficient movement.
- Resolve issues with contractors or vendors when challenges arise.
- Manage inventory using RFGen scanning equipment.
- Spot and report workplace safety hazards; keep aisles and areas clear.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned and surrounding areas; properly dispose of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping.
- Collaborate closely with leaders and teammates in a strong team environment.
- Obtain a valid fork truck license and certification within your first 30 days.
- Complete the daily fork truck safety inspection sheet.
- Follow all Great Dane safety requirements at all times.
- Take on other related duties as assigned.
What you bring
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
- Strong recall to perform multiple tasks day to day.
- Capability to meet the physical demands described below.
- Focus on minimizing scrap and waste; efficient use of supplies and a drive for cost savings.
- Consistent output that meets or exceeds production targets.
- 1–2 years of fork truck experience preferred.
- 1–2 years of scan gun experience preferred.
- Comfort working with your hands and handling materials.
- Quick learner who retains new information.
- Follows written and verbal instructions precisely.
- Proactive problem-solver with timely follow-through.
- Effective English communication skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Solid math and time-management skills.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Works in both office and plant environments.
- Regular keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, and walking.

- Ability to stand and move about on concrete 8-10 hours a day. Ability to see, walk, bend, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, carry, climb (including ladders), work overhead, push and pull.
- Ability to do heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) multiple times daily in an 8-to-10-hour shift.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
