Overview:

The Cooper River Hytrel®/Crastin® plant has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Manager (Daily Execution Leader) to join our team located near Charleston, SC.  We are seeking an energized, passionate leader who will lead, develop and inspire the plant operations team to the highest level of excellence and world-class performance in the areas of Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, Engagement and Productivity. 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a culture where team members bring their best self to work each and every day, giving of their discretionary effort because of their personal commitment and ownership.
  • Lead implementation, champion, and continuously improve systems and behaviors to align with Celanese’s Move to the Core operating model and standards of Operational Excellence.
  • Coach and develop the team, and embed into the culture, to have a forward-looking mindset to identify imminent and emerging risks that pose a threat to Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, Engagement or Productivity.
  • Coach, support and develop employees in behaviors that foster trust, respect, effective collaboration, teamwork, peer-to-peer recognition, idea generation, modeling the Core Values, embracing the principles of Celanese’s Move to the Core operating model and Operational Excellence.
  • Display a curious mindset to understand how work is performed by investing regular time in the field utilizing principles of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) with the end goal of institutionalizing Operational Learnings as part of the 24/7 team’s culture. 
  • Champion the team to continuously improve the plant’s Operational Discipline based on Operational Learnings to close the gap between black line (procedure) and blue line (how work is actually performed).
  • Demonstrate courageous leadership by coaching, asking questions, and providing constructive feedback to continuously improve performance based on the principle of reducing normalization of variation.
  • Serve and the direct leader of employees aligned to the time horizon of plant operations organization including engineers, specialists, and shift supervisors (Team Captains) who in turn serve as leaders of the 24/7 team comprised of Process Experts.  Total number of direct reports is ~10 people.
  • Serve as the main point of contact with site partner who provides contract operations for material movement services.
  • Partner with the Learning Facilitator and Team Captains to continuously elevate the competency of the 24/7 Process Expert team through well-defined training plans, skilled trainers, effective competency evaluations, and oral boards.
  • Have a forward-looking mindset to identify organizational needs to attract and retain talent who is aligned with the team’s culture and required competencies.
  • Develop employees and ensures career success via goal-setting, performance management, promotion processes, and employee development.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with on-site and above site support functions such as Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, Technology, Supply Chain, etc. to function as ONE team.
  • Communicate plant status, unplanned events, lessons learned, leverageable best practices to internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a key member of the Site Leadership Team and primary back-up to the Site Director. 
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or related field; 10+ years of experience a manufacturing leadership role in lieu of degree will be considered 
  • 5+ Years of manufacturing experience
  • Proven influential leadership skills in previous areas of responsibility

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous People and/or functional leadership experience.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, 5S skills are beneficial
  • Advanced degrees and training are beneficial.
