Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Technician to join a fast-paced production environment in Cranston, RI. This role is responsible for manufacturing and packaging chemical batches according to established manufacturing orders while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, equipment reliability, and housekeeping.
The ideal candidate has hands-on manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to identify equipment or process issues and communicate them to a supervisor. Experience working with chemicals or in an equipment-intensive production environment is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture and package batches in accordance with manufacturing orders, established procedures, and production requirements.
- Set up, operate, and monitor manufacturing and packaging equipment to support consistent production.
- Perform routine equipment checks and identify mechanical, operational, or material-related issues.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment problems and make appropriate adjustments when qualified to do so.
- Report equipment malfunctions, material concerns, quality issues, and production problems to the Supervisor.
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities and help maintain equipment in reliable operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures when handling chemicals, operating machinery, and performing production tasks.
- Maintain accurate production and batch documentation, including equipment settings, material information, and required quality records.
- Verify that equipment and production areas are properly configured before beginning manufacturing activities.
- Support quality-control procedures by monitoring processes and identifying deviations or inconsistencies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
- Assist with housekeeping and routine cleaning of manufacturing and production equipment.
- Work independently while also communicating effectively with supervisors and other members of the manufacturing team.
- Learn and perform additional manufacturing, packaging, equipment, and production duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred.
- Experience working with chemicals strongly preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work safely around production equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written manufacturing procedures.
- Quality- and safety-minded approach to work.
- Ability to identify and clearly communicate problems with materials, equipment, or production processes.
- Comfortable learning new equipment, procedures, and manufacturing processes.
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete production documentation.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Experience
- Chemical manufacturing, blending, batching, or packaging experience.
- Experience operating automated or semi-automated manufacturing equipment.
- Preventive maintenance or equipment troubleshooting experience.
- Familiarity with manufacturing orders, batch records, quality procedures, or production documentation.
- Experience in an equipment-intensive manufacturing environment.
