Group Lead Manufacturing
Location: Minnetonka, Minnesota
Shift: Weekend Shift | 5:00 AM 5:30 PMJob Summary: The Group Lead supports daily manufacturing operations by coordinating production activities, communicating work instructions, monitoring quality and production performance, and assisting manufacturing operators. This position helps ensure products are processed according to build schedules, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
The Group Lead works closely with supervisors, operators, quality teams, maintenance, and other value stream leaders to resolve production issues, support continuous improvement, and maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate production activities within assigned manufacturing areas to ensure continuous processing according to build schedules.
- Communicate work instructions and production priorities to manufacturing personnel in alignment with supervisory objectives.
- Monitor production and quality goals and take appropriate action to maintain performance standards.
- Conduct regular process and quality audits of personnel, tooling, and equipment.
- Identify equipment failures and promptly communicate issues to supervisors or appropriate support teams.
- Track work-in-process (WIP) inventory and daily production output for assigned areas.
- Assist with training manufacturing operators and provide retraining when required.
- Provide feedback regarding production defects and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist in expediting priority products, orders, and production tasks.
- Inspect rejected components and determine disposition according to established documentation and procedures.
- Perform hands-on manufacturing and production operations when required to meet build schedules.
- Troubleshoot production problems, identify root causes, and facilitate solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct daily meetings with manufacturing operators to improve communication, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) and equipment calibration stickers are current and properly maintained.
- Conduct and support 5S audits and workplace organization activities.
- Participate in weekly meetings with other area Value Stream Group Leads.
- Support BBSP observations and related manufacturing safety/behavioral initiatives.
- Assist employees with training needs and Employee Self Service (ESS) requirements.
- Coordinate purchase requests for equipment, supplies, and services as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, company products, markets, industry trends, and areas of technical expertise.
- Support Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) requirements.
- Comply with FDA regulations, company policies, SOPs, work instructions, quality standards, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain positive communication and collaboration with employees, customers, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Support company initiatives and perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:- Manufacturing or production environment experience.
- Previous experience in a Lead, Group Lead, Team Lead, Manufacturing Lead, or Production Lead capacity preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and production procedures.
- Experience with process and quality audits.
- Ability to train, coach, and support production operators.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to monitor production schedules, WIP inventory, and daily output.
- Knowledge of 5S, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance and equipment calibration requirements.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to follow FDA, QMS, EMS, safety, and other regulatory requirements.
