Manufacturing Estimator

Global Gear & Machining seeks a Manufacturing Estimator for our plant in Downers Grove, IL. We are a gear manufacturer located in Downers Grove, IL, with easy access from the I-355 expressway.

Essential Job Functions

• Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare a method of manufacturing framework that includes raw material costs, setup/production times & costs (labor and burden), sub-contract operation costs etc.; for products & services to build quotations to be submitted to customers.
• Co-ordinates Team feasibility analysis of all incoming quote opportunities.
• Establish cost estimates to include labor (direct and indirect), materials, subcontractor costs, tooling, finishing, assembly, and packaging.
• Assists customer service, sales, engineering, and production control in qualifying issues relative to quoted orders and resolving any discrepancies.
• Maintain priorities of all RFQ's in process and maintain the quote log.
• Obtain pricing for special processes or materials from subcontractors and vendors.
• Follow safety rules and company rules.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
• Estimate new and existing products to customer specifications.
• Review process design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Communicates directly with Customer Purchasing/technical staff on all aspects of quotes for proper specifications, expectations, timing, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and heat treatment from an engineering perspective to be able to create a manufacturing process upon review of the blueprint.
• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of the product.
• Must be able to read engineering blueprints and schematics with a good understanding of GD&T.
• Must have computer skills, technical software skills i.e. ERP and Microsoft Office suite.
• Must have good organizational and communication skills.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Quoting in Epicor ERP experience is a plus.
• Salary Pay range $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year plus bonus potential
