    Description

    The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports new product releases and manufacturing operations through CNC program development, machine setup, first-piece production, operator training, and manufacturing engineering activities. This position works closely with Quality, Production and ES&H to ensure new products are properly programmed, tested, documented, and successfully transitioned into production..

    GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop CNC and/or machine programs for new product releases and engineering changes.

    • Set up, test, and prove out new programs prior to release to production, making necessary adjustments to ensure programs produce quality parts efficiently and consistently.

    • Coordinate and support the production of test and development pieces for new products, including identifying requirements for R&D or engineering test material and funding.

    • Work directly with Production during new product launches and periods of low production volume to support successful introduction of new products and production aides.

    • Set up machines and produce first-piece parts to verify programs, tooling, work instructions, processes, and part requirements.

    • Troubleshoot

      and resolve programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues as needed.

    • Train production operators on machine operation, program use, setup procedures, and basic machining fundamentals.

    • Provide hands-on technical support to Production to resolve machining and process-related issues.

    • Work closely with all departments to develop and improve manufacturing processes.

    • Assist with time studies, including collecting production data, observing processes, and documenting standard cycle times.

    • Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, productivity, quality, tooling, and machine utilization.

    • Assist with implementation and validation of process changes and new manufacturing methods.

    • Maintain accurate programming, setup, process, and production documentation.

    • Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, and other departments to support new product launches and ongoing manufacturing operations.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Technical training, machining education, or an associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.

    • **Relevant machining, CNC programming, setup, and manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

    **

    • Experience with CNC programming, machine setup, and first-piece inspection.

    • Strong understanding of basic machining principles, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and machine operation.

    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.

    • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

    • Ability to train and communicate technical information effectively to production personnel.

    • Basic computer skills and ability to work with manufacturing and engineering software.

    • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

    • Experience developing and proving out CNC programs for new products.

    • Experience with CNC mills, lathes, or other automated machining equipment.

    • Experience with CAD/CAM software.

    • Experience conducting time studies and establishing standard work or standard cycle times.

    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.

    • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI).

    • Knowledge of machine designs and applications

    • Experience in creating and updating routers for production

    • CNC programming experience required and knowledge of FeatureCam software is a plus

    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
