Manufacturing Engineer

My client is an employee-owned leader in plastic injection molding, contract manufacturing, and tool building. Job Description

Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing and assembly processes for molding and secondary operations. Analyze production data to reduce scrap, improve cycle times, increase OEE, and drive process efficiency. Establish and maintain standardized work instructions, process documentation, and visual management systems. Design and implement fixtures, tooling, and ergonomic solutions to improve productivity and consistency. Lead manufacturing readiness activities for new product introductions and production launches. Collaborate with Engineering, Tooling, and Quality teams to ensure manufacturability and customer requirements are met. Support mold sampling, process validation, production standards, and BOM reviews. Partner with Quality on root cause investigations, CAPA activities, and MRB support. Work closely with Tooling and Maintenance teams to improve mold performance and reliability. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to improve quality, cost, and delivery performance. Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction and process stability. Track and analyze KPIs including scrap, downtime, efficiency, throughput, and overall equipment performance. Support production troubleshooting, ERP/MES documentation, and regulatory compliance activities.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Manufacturing Engineer should have: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline. 3-7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience within plastics manufacturing environments. Injection molding experience strongly preferred. Experience with process development, tooling, manufacturing troubleshooting, and production support. Proficiency with CAD software and engineering documentation. Familiarity with automation, robotics, or collaborative robot (cobot) technologies preferred. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience utilizing ERP/MES systems and manufacturing data analysis tools. Strong root cause analysis, problem-solving, and project management skills. Hands-on engineer with strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities. Experience supporting regulated industries such as medical device, defense, or technology manufacturing is a plus. Must meet ITAR employment eligibility requirements.
