Manufacturing Engineer

My client is a well-established manufacturer serving specialty paper and converting markets. Job Description

Troubleshoot equipment failures and support hands-on repair activities to minimize downtime. Identify root causes of recurring equipment, process, and quality issues and implement corrective actions. Improve equipment reliability through preventive maintenance, upgrades, and process improvements. Support equipment installations, commissioning, startups, and capital improvement projects. Optimize machine performance, uptime, yields, throughput, waste reduction, and setup times. Analyze production, downtime, and quality data to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities. Support process development, production trials, and capacity improvement initiatives. Develop and improve operating procedures, process controls, work instructions, and operator training. Investigate product quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions. Support customer complaint investigations and nonconforming material resolution. Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, vendors, and suppliers to solve manufacturing challenges. Drive continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer commitments.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Manufacturing Engineer should have:

  • 3-7+ years of manufacturing, process, equipment, or mechanical engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on industrial equipment troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with bearings, drives, motors, gearboxes, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sensors.
  • Electrical and controls troubleshooting experience including PLCs, VFDs, motors, and industrial controls preferred.
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis, corrective actions, process controls, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in paper, converting, coating, laminating, packaging, printing, web handling, slitting, or other continuous-process manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Resourceful, hands-on problem solver with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor and assisting with equipment repairs when needed.
  • Strong communication, initiative, accountability, and follow-through.
