MANUFACTURING ENGINEER, MACHINING – JOB #1155

Build Better Processes. Solve Real Problems. Help Build Helicopters.

Enstrom Helicopter Corporation is looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer, Machining who knows CNC machining, understands what makes a process work on the shop floor, and enjoys turning manufacturing challenges into practical solutions.

This isn’t an engineering role spent entirely behind a desk. You’ll work alongside machinists, operators, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to improve how parts are machined, how equipment is utilized, and how our manufacturing processes perform.

If you enjoy CNC machining, tooling, fixtures, process improvement, and seeing your work make a direct impact on production, this could be a great opportunity to bring your experience into the aerospace industry.

    Location: Menominee, Michigan
    Status: Full-Time, Exempt
    Reports To: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

    What You’ll Do

You’ll help strengthen and expand Enstrom’s machining capabilities by:

    • Developing and optimizing CNC machining processes, setups, tooling, cutting parameters, cycle times, and process capability.

    • Working directly with machinists and production teams to troubleshoot machining challenges and improve processes.

    • Providing technical expertise in CNC machining, cutting tools, work holding, fixtures, and manufacturing methods.

    • Designing, improving, and implementing tooling, fixtures, gauges, and other production aids.

    • Finding practical ways to reduce scrap, rework, setup time, cycle time, and machine downtime.

    • Supporting machining cell layouts, equipment placement, material flow, utilities, and manufacturing infrastructure.

    • Helping bring new equipment and technology into production—from initial concept and equipment selection through installation, validation, and launch.

    • Supporting equipment acceptance testing, process validation, and production ramp-up.

    • Training operators and production personnel on new equipment, tooling, processes, and work methods.

    • Supporting root-cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts throughout manufacturing.

    • Helping maintain a safe, organized, efficient, and production-focused work environment.

    What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who brings a strong combination of technical knowledge, hands-on machining experience, and problem-solving ability.

    Successful candidates will typically have:

    • An associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.

    • Approximately 5–10 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.

    • Strong hands-on knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.

    • Experience with CAM software and advanced CNC programming.

    • Strong knowledge of cutting tools, work holding, fixturing, machining parameters, and process optimization.

    • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.

    • An understanding of mechanical drawings and drafting fundamentals.

    • Strong mathematical, analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.

    • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while staying connected to day-to-day production needs.

    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Production.

    Even Better If You Have

    • Aerospace manufacturing experience.

    • Experience working in a regulated or tight-tolerance manufacturing environment.

    • Experience launching or implementing CNC equipment, machining cells, tooling, fixtures, or new manufacturing processes.
