Role Summary
In this role, you will be instrumental in establishing control, consistency, and ownership of cutting-tool data within our CNC programming organization. Your primary focus will be to develop, maintain, and improve cutting-tool content within our Tool Data Management (TDM) environment, making it the single source of truth for approved cutting-tool data.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain cutting-tool data content within TDM, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and usable by CNC programmers.
- Review existing cutting-tool definitions and transition agreed-upon tooling into TDM as the approved source of truth.
- Create and edit cutting-tool and toolholder geometry, defining complete tool assemblies with all necessary attributes.
- Maintain approved feeds, speeds, and other cutting parameters in TDM based on part-qualification or metallurgical test results.
- Serve as the primary contact for implementing new cutting tools, tracking requests from need identification through technical validation.
- Communicate with programmers when new or revised tooling is implemented and ready for use.
- Stay connected with CNC programmers and machinists to understand tooling needs and shop-floor challenges.
- Maintain the integrity of TDM naming and classification structures while recommending improvements.
Requirements
- Experience working with TDM Systems.
- Experience with Siemens NX CAM.
- 5–8 years of relevant manufacturing experience or equivalent technical experience.
- Strong knowledge of cutting tools used in milling and turning applications.
- Ability to create and modify 3D cutting-tool and toolholder geometry.
- Working knowledge of feeds, speeds, and machining fundamentals.
- Detail-oriented and organized with a commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Experience with comparable tool-management systems.
- Practical, shop-focused mindset with an understanding of CNC programming and manufacturing.
- Comfortable questioning inconsistent practices or inaccurate data constructively.
