Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

Department: Engineering

Division Assembly: Escanaba, MI

Shift: 1st

Summary

Help to support the Engineering and Production Floor staff with automation items related to current processes and new projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Various other duties may be assigned.

• Support the production shop floor by helping to diagnose automation related issues.
• Study existing processes and develop ideas for improvement.
• Make positional and programmatical adjustments to automated equipment including robots.
• Implement new sensors into automated processes both physically and programmatically.
• Re-route electrical and pneumatic equipment for ideal motion throughout robotic movements.
• Modify PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs for most robust and efficient process control.
• Update / modify HMI (Human-Machine Interface) devices for most intuitive process monitoring.
• Provide verbal and written communications for automated process changes / improvements.
• Create documentation for production and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Collaborate on estimating costs and planning timelines for process improvement ideas.
• Work well within a team environment but also be able to work with a large degree of autonomy.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Robotics, Automation, Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology (Prefer junior or senior but will consider other class level).
