Pay Range: $77,000 - $97,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications

MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country.

The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, supporting production operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. This role works cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and product engineering teams to implement efficient and scalable manufacturing solutions. The Manufacturing Engineer II applies intermediate-level engineering knowledge to troubleshoot production issues, optimize workflows, support new product introductions, and ensure manufacturing systems meet operational and business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and safety
  • Develop and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
  • Support daily production operations by troubleshooting process and equipment issues
  • Design and maintain manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Lead or support capital equipment and tooling projects
  • Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities and production launches
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions
  • Monitor and improve key manufacturing metrics including scrap, downtime, throughput, and labor efficiency
  • Collaborate with quality teams to resolve non-conformance and customer issues
  • Evaluate manufacturing layouts and material flow for optimization opportunities
  • Assist in validating process changes and equipment qualifications
  • Support automation and manufacturing technology initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Train operators and production personnel on new processes and equipment
  • Support and participate in new product launches, E-Builds, and production readiness activities
  • Conduct time studies and labor analysis to identify productivity improvement opportunities
  • Lead and support Kaizen events, 5S initiatives, and other continuous improvement activities on the production floor
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and organized work environment
  • Demonstrate MITER Brands Guiding Principles in all business interactions
  • Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and production systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, or FMEA
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Experience with ERP or MES systems
  • CAD software experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Experience supporting automation or robotics projects
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments

Work Environment

  • Primarily operates in an office environment with exposure to diverse noise levels.
  • Depending on the projects, engineering technicians will also operate in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures.
  • The nature of assisting and processing tasks frequently demands efficient work to meet schedules and demands.
  • Requires adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary
