Our client is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to lead a major effort to bring key production work in-house. This is a hands-on, project-driven role for someone who likes owning an initiative from the first feasibility conversation through go-live. You will split your time between the production floor and project work, partnering closely with teams across engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations. It is a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys building plans, improving processes, and seeing the results on the floor.
Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities:
- Lead insourcing projects from feasibility analysis and business case through planning, execution, and go-live
- Build and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and budgets while tracking milestones, risks, and action items
- Coordinate with outside vendors and the machine shop to manage the handoff of work from external suppliers to in-house production
- Plan and support capital equipment installation, tooling and fixture development, and facility needs tied to project timelines
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize continuous improvement opportunities across processes, tooling, equipment, and workflows
- Work with engineering, quality, supply chain, production, and finance to keep transitions on time, on budget, and on quality
- Share project status, risks, and recommendations with leadership
Manufacturing Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering field, or in Operations Management
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience
- Experience with insourcing or outsourcing transitions and continuous improvement initiatives, with measurable results
- Experience leading projects and building business cases, schedules, and resource plans
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Project; CAD experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Pro-E) is a plus
- PMP certification is preferred
