Manufacturing Accountant

Support the research and analysis of these inputs into the cost of goods manufacturing for supporting decisions and making transparent the nature and source of cost to produce DRAs. Oversee the cost of goods manufactured data inputs for accuracy, proper controls and transparency to drive efficiencies in production and purchasing.

Manufacturing Accountant – Bryan, TX | Temp-to-Hire This role will be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day input of accurate data into our ERP system. Will be responsible for understanding the data as it flows through the site and into our different product costs. Should be able to speak to questions about the nature of the cost to support inquiries and analysis related to overall product costing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the cost of goods manufactured data inputs for accuracy, proper controls and transparency to drive efficiencies in production and purchasing.
• Support the research and analysis of these inputs into the cost of goods manufacturing for supporting decisions and making transparent the nature and source of cost to produce DRAs.
• Works with plant leadership to resolve significant issues and clarify or interpret complex information.
• Makes recommendations on moderately complex accounting issues.
• Develop and maintain standard cost through metrics and tracking systems for major cost drivers.
• May make recommendations on new accounting processes, tools and services; supports and contributes to development of new accounting products, services or techniques.
• Prepares manufacturing variances and supporting analysis to assist with monthly closing activities.
• Proactive analysis of variances and communication of issues and opportunities to operations management, as well as inventory, manufacturing cost and standard cost variances.
• Collaborates with Manufacturing to conduct physical inventory audits for the quarter-end and year-end physical inventory counts.
• Implement and report on inventory metrics including inventory adjustments, finished product variances and other metrics, as developed.
• Records, monitors, reports and communicates function and business results.
• Coordination with Operations and Plant Managers to facilitate the periodic update of the standard costs in the bill of materials.
• Monitoring projects progress (general analysis) and reporting back to the business via the project managers.
• Maintain proper expense classification by function and cost center as well as management of proper tax coding costs within the plants.
• Support site maintenance in assigning cost to proper operation units within the plants.

Competencies

• Strong understanding of US GAAP
• Ability to work in a connected team environment.
• Be motivated to learn cost processes within a manufacturing site.
• Strong working knowledge of financial regulatory policies
• Good communication skills to communicate financial data to non-financial audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting
• Typically requires 7+ years of plant accounting experience
• CPA, CMA preferred - Career path to CPA, CMA certification preferred.
• SAP S4 Hana experience required
