Description

Holland Applied Technologies, located in Burr Ridge IL, is a leader in the sanitary process/equipment industry. We fabricate and distribute sanitary equipment and systems for the food, pharmaceutical, personal care, and beverage industries.

The Lathe & Mill operator manufactures assorted products using various stainless-steel fittings and tubing using our manual equipment. 

Responsibilities
  • Ensures safe and efficient operation of all machining equipment to produce high-quality parts.
  • Reviews blueprints and other specification papers before starting work on a fabrication process and during the steps to assure accurate completion.
  • Makes precision cuts on manual lathes and manual milling machines (ProtoTrak is a plus)
  • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Ensures that all parts on the order are properly aligned and fitted.
  • Checks measurements and dimensions of each piece that’s being worked on using calipers, height gages, ruler, measuring tapes and squares.
  • Versed in operating drill presses, tube benders, belt sanders, and tube facing machines.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations, including the use of PPE.
  • Assures parts are clean and placed in their respective areas for the next manufacturing process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of fabrication experience
  • At least 10 years of manual lathes and mill operation (10-15 years of experience preferred)
  • Must understand design techniques, principles and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, blueprints and work orders.
  • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms. 
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete work assignments within designated timeframes.
  • Basic understanding of mathematics as related to work assignments. 
  • Must have good communication skills and the ability to work with all members in the organization.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Must be able to complete various activities in the shop that may require hours of walking, sitting, standing, bending/stooping, lifting and carrying.  
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, noise, and different climate temperatures.
  • Schedule: 4 x 10's preferred but open to 5 x 8's
**Hourly wages based on experience and qualifications
