Purpose:
The Managing Director is responsible for subsidiaries business line revenue and functionality and will oversee all staff, budgets and operations of the local business unit. This position plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees operations activities across the business unit(s), formulates overall strategy, manages talent and establishes policies. To be successful in the role one should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker, helping employees develop and be productive, while ensuring profitability. This position is responsible for extensive and sustainable growth and creating back log in their business unit(s) ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the sector.
Essential Functions:
Key areas of responsibility are:
Business development:
Develop and expand new customers
Create back log for assigned subsidiary(ies)
Strategic planning of current and future business model / plan
Annual / rolling 12-month projection budgeting of business unit(s)
Oversight and management of current budgets
Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)
Prospect for, and assist with, potential corporate growth by way of acquisitions (M&A)
Collaborate with internal and external resources, at all levels, to add tangible institutional value and sustainable growth
Personnel management / Development
Manpower planning for future growth
Planning and development of personnel benefits
Contract oversight for any union personnel
Developmental planning for current and future staff
Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally
Oversee recruitment and training of new employees
Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution
Financial budgeting and Oversight
Develop annual business budgets
Monthly oversight and planning of actual budgets
Training of all personnel for project and business unit budgeting
Participate in monthly backlog forecast meetings
Control budgets and optimize expenses
Strategic Planning
Planning for future opportunities / growth / new business opportunities over the next 3 years
Design strategy and set goals for growth
Collaborates with other business units and departments to carry out the organizations goals and objectives
Ensures that business unit decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the sectors business plan and vision
Asset Management
Oversight / planning / management of current assets
Plan for new assets required for future growth
Oversee day-to-day operations
Ensure staff follows health and safety regulations
Support corporate compliance needs
