As the Managing Attorney for one our in-house counsel legal departments, you will be primarily responsible for the litigation of insurance company workers' compensation claims and all aspects of the management of the staff attorneys and support staff in the office. Utilize your litigation experience and legal knowledge to represent insured employers in the litigation of workers'' compensation claims, prepare legal correspondence, memorandums, briefs and pleadings and participate in the negotiation and settlements of litigated claims. In this position you will conduct depositions of claimants, insureds and expert witnesses. You will ensure compliance with Defense Counsel Guidelines as well as develop and maintain solid internal and external client relationships, perform legislative and/or regulatory research to support the General Counsel''s Office and analyze and advise internal clients of developments in workers'' compensation law and procedure.
Responsibilities:
Represent insured employers and PMA in litigation of workers'' compensation claims.
Provide input on specific legislative/regulatory agenda for workers'' compensation.
Respond to requests from claim personnel for legal advice and direction in support of handling workers'' compensation claims.
Provide leadership and direct oversight for staff, including performance management, coaching, and professional development.
Assist with training claim personnel on various aspects of workers'' compensation law, including litigation process and procedures.
