Description

Manager, User Technical Experience

Kansas City, KS (Onsite, Monday-Friday) | 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

Position Summary

LRS Consulting Services is seeking a Manager, User Technical Experience for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity in Kansas City, KS. This is a hands-on leadership role within a Digital Workplace organization, responsible for ensuring employees actually embrace and get value from new technology, not just have it deployed at them. You’ll lead a small, high-impact team focused on user adoption, training, UAT, and stakeholder engagement across the organization’s technology ecosystem.

The right person for this role isn’t just a UX practitioner. You’re someone who can walk into a room of skeptical business leaders, make the case for why user experience matters, and get buy-in. You combine UX expertise with real leadership presence, the ability to influence, advocate, and build relationships across every level of the organization. If you’re the kind of leader who can champion user-centered technology while managing people, projects, and stakeholder expectations simultaneously, this role was built for you.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and manage a team of 2 (UX Specialist and Technical Writer), providing coaching, development, and day-to-day direction
  • Drive technology adoption and change management for Digital Workplace initiatives, ensuring new tools and services are successfully deployed, supported, and embraced by end users
  • Create strategic artifacts such as user journeys, personas, and design frameworks to guide the team’s work and align with business objectives
  • Partner with M365, Endpoint, IT Asset Management, and Support teams to identify opportunities for improvement in Digital Workplace deliverables
  • Engage with business leaders, project managers, and communications teams to guide new technical deployments and ensure smooth transitions
  • Develop and deliver training content for internal business units, including lunch-and-learns and project-specific sessions
  • Manage UAT and test groups for larger deployments, reporting, resolving, and escalating risks and issues as needed
  • Oversee user research, usability testing, and data analysis to inform design decisions
  • Guide the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and interaction designs ensuring consistency and alignment with user needs
  • Perform survey work and gather user feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Manage the team’s knowledge base and ensure documentation is current and accessible
  • Manage timelines for smaller projects not requiring the PMO

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in process development, technical testing and deployment, technical project leadership, service/help desk, or related experience
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or management experience with the ability to coach, develop, and inspire a team
  • Strong UX mindset with the ability to advocate for user needs and build organizational buy-in for user experience initiatives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership
  • Experience managing technology adoption, change management, and end-user training programs
  • Knowledge of IT and change management operating models
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Windows, Mac, iOS, UX tools, and project management platforms
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • Must be willing to work onsite 5 days per week in Kansas City, KS
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. Temporary visa candidates will not be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications in relevant disciplines (ITIL, PMP, or similar)
  • Experience with Jira, ServiceNow, or similar platforms
  • Experience supporting IT integration activities for acquired companies
  • Experience in a collaborative, customer-facing, relationship-driven team culture
