Job Summary

The client's Technical Accounting team is responsible for proactively consulting with and advising business units on accounting matters and policies, internal controls, and corporate governance. The team also serves as a liaison to external auditors, Tax, and Internal Audit, and supports the preparation and retention of financial statement information and disclosures in coordination with the client's business units. As a result, this role will have broad exposure to finance functions across the company. The Technical Accounting team also partners with Legal, Business Development, and other functions on a variety of matters, including due diligence reviews and transaction-related accounting considerations. Reporting to the Vice President of Technical Accounting, the Manager will support business units with the implementation of new accounting standards, perform accounting research on unusual or complex transactions, review management reports and submissions to the client's (other business units), assist with accounting training initiatives, and contribute to special projects designed to enhance the effectiveness of the Finance organization and the broader business. The Manager will be expected to develop and maintain a strong understanding of company-wide operations and business activities, providing broad exposure that may support future opportunities across other Finance functions or business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical accounting resource on complex accounting matters and transactions, including revenue recognition, mergers and acquisitions, business combinations, film accounting, lease accounting, and other areas as needed.
  • Support senior team members with accounting research, financial modeling, contract reviews, and other technical accounting analyses.
  • Prepare technical accounting documentation, including accounting memoranda, white papers, and FAQs, to support the client's IFRS accounting positions, and update accounting policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with line-of-business subject matter experts to understand current accounting practices and develop future-state practices aligned with IFRS technical accounting conclusions and the client's accounting policies.
  • Research and support the implementation of new IFRS standards, pronouncements, and accounting policies in coordination with the client's (several business units) Finance and external auditors.
  • Support the planning and delivery of accounting training across Finance teams to promote consistent application of corporate accounting policies under IFRS.
  • Support quarterly and annual financial statement review and external audit activities.
  • Help define, document, and implement future-state accounting processes in accordance with IFRS requirements and project timelines, in coordination with project teams and business subject matter experts.
  • Take ownership of multiple workstreams, work independently, and consistently meet required deadlines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects, including due diligence and transaction-related initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical accounting concepts clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of accounting expertise.
  • Willingness to adopt an Agile mindset and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and analytical skills, with working knowledge of AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to enhance research, analysis, documentation, and process efficiency.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated team player with strong collaboration skills.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience in public accounting or a related industry.
  • Significant experience conducting technical accounting research and documenting accounting conclusions.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • IFRS experience preferred.
  • Experience reviewing complex transactions, contracts, or accounting arrangements preferred.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
