Here's a summary of responsibilities:

In collaboration with the NGB Services Team, Sport Performance, and other USOPC functional units, the Manager will strategically work with National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to develop, refine, finalize, and evaluate Team Selection Procedures for Team USA Delegation Events (Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Pan American Games, and Parapan American Games).

 

Reporting to the Associate Director, Selection Procedures, the Manager will collaborate extensively with stakeholders and internal partners to ensure that Team Selection Procedures are developed in a manner that is timely and consistent with applicable legislation, the USOPC Bylaws. and USOPC Policy.

 

To execute these duties, the Manager will need to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Manager will also need to develop subject matter expertise in Team Selection Procedures as well as International Qualification systems for Delegation Events.

Here’s how you’ll have an impact:

  • Collaborate with NGB and USOPC Sport Performance stakeholders to aid in the development and execution of Team Selection Procedures for Delegation Events by providing timely input as well as monitoring the development process to ensure that the multi-phase development and implementation system are followed.
  • Manage every step of the process with stakeholders to ensure that the process is fulsome, compliant with applicable rules, and transparent to key stakeholders – firstly with potential Team USA athletes.
  • Contribute to an atmosphere of outstanding teamwork by providing fair and consistent feedback and maintaining ongoing lines of communication with stakeholders and designated leaders.
  • Track progress and milestones to ensure visibility to all stakeholders and to develop procedure execution norms across all sports. 
  • Serving in an advisory capacity, provide feedback and guidance as needed to NGBs and athletes as they develop Team Selection Procedures for non-Delegation Events.
  • Assist the Associate Director in continually updating and refining the Team Selection Procedures process. Document trends in Selection Procedure execution, pull and utilize data derived from tracking, and use feedback from stakeholders and other sources to improve future educational materials, templates, and policies.
  • Develop and maintain the comprehensive library of resources and tools to support NGBs and internal stakeholders with Selection Procedures, including but not limited to, in-person and/or virtual summits, guidebooks, communication templates, and webinars.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director and Senior Governance Advisor to track progress of Team Selection Procedures, and ensure deadlines are managed.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of training materials for all relevant stakeholders in multiple formats including in-person classroom and web-based distance learning, while complying with accessibility guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director to deliver training to NGBs and internal stakeholders about the Team Selection Procedure process as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration/Management or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of experience in Sports Management, Sports Science, Sports Law, and/or Athletics/NCAA Compliance
  • Experience in project management and data tracking
  • Hands-on experience working with High Performance sport
  • Knowledge of Olympic and Paralympic Movement and National Governing Bodies
  • Skill in developing and delivering education and training over various channels to a wide variety of audiences
  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to listen, ask the right questions, adapt the approach based on the situation and needs, exercise good judgment, and solve problems
  • Ability to work with a diverse population and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to maintain confidences and confidential information and work professionally with USOPC colleagues and NGBs
  • Ability to think creatively to address complex issues with an open mind for all angles and potential solutions
  • Sharp awareness for precise details in written policy and procedure documents
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with tight deadlines
  • Teamwork skills with ability to work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders to collectively achieve mission and goals

Hybrid – Colorado Springs Downtown Headquarters and Remote 

Here's some more information you need to know:

  • Hiring pay range $70,000 - $80,000 per year.
  • This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
