Manager, Speech and Language Pathologist: Center for Autism Services, Science, and Innovation- CASSI at Greenspring Campus

Overview

The Manager, Speech-Language Pathology assumes overall responsibility for Speech-Language Pathology services provided within a specific Kennedy Krieger program including recruiting, mentoring, and retaining clinical and/or clinical support staff, overseeing daily operational and compliance activities (ensuring adherence to policy and procedures and clinical practice standards), and providing for on-going quality improvement, program development, and team member professional development. The incumbent will provide direct patient care, maintain documentation relative to services offered; and participate in intra-and interdisciplinary training programs. This position serves as a liaison for their program’s Speech-Language Pathology services with departmental leadership and other departments across the Institute.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the delivery of speech-language pathology services within a specific Kennedy Krieger program, including program development, clinical productivity, and monitoring and implementation of efficient daily clinical operations.
• Lead and/or participate in recruitment, hiring, and retention of highly qualified Speech Language Pathologists and clinical fellows to provide direct and support services. In collaboration with the recruiter, post positions, review resumes, and schedule interviews with candidates. Provide for all aspects of initial onboarding and orientation for new team members, including operational and clinical logistics, and team integration.  
• Supervise and lead performance management activities for all direct reports and ensure adherence to policy and procedures and clinical practice standards.
• Assist leaders with the design, implementation and monitoring of program development, on-going quality improvement activities and clinical outcomes endeavors.
• In collaboration with operational leadership, oversee clinical triage and scheduling of patients referred to their program for speech-language pathology services.
• Provide professional development and oversight of program specific training for SLPs.
• Serve as primary liaison for the program’s speech-language pathology services with departmental leadership and other departments across the Institute.
• Provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and intervention programs consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in speech-language pathology and departmental quality standards, soliciting and incorporating the needs, interests, and objectives of the patient/student (as appropriate) and family.
• Collaborate with the family, medical and clinical providers, school/educational personnel, and other clinical or educational care team members, to ensure continuum of care for the child and optimization of services. All interactions are non-judgmental and based upon mutual respect.
• Maintain documentation and complete case management activities consistent with Institute and Department expectations, as well as guidelines and requirements from The Joint Commission (JC), the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and/or the Maryland Department of Education (MDSE), and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
• Participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary activities related to patient/student care (e.g., team conferences; student conferences – school team) and professional training (e.g., staff development activities).
• Demonstrate leadership and participate in systematic, professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the Department and Institute.

• Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain full licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the Maryland Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers & Speech-Language Pathologists.
• Must possess and maintain the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
• Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification within three months of training/date of hire.
• For school positions: Must achieve and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) training certification at the appropriate level and according to the timeline established within departmental policy. Opportunities for training will be provided by the department.

  EDUCATION:

  Master’s degree in communication science/communication disorders/speech-language pathology required.

   

  EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years clinical experience (including the clinical fellowship year) with an emphasis on pediatric communication disorders is required.
  • One year supervisory/team leadership experience or additional coursework in clinical leadership is preferred.

  Minimum pay range

  USD $83,483.92/Hr.

  Maximum pay range

  USD $14,945,382.00/Hr.
