What you will be doing: You'll be responsible for Reports to the Center Director. Directly supervises security officers, substitute security officers, and drivers.

Responsible for the management of center security which includes safety, fire protection, security, transportation and liaison with law enforcement and other support agencies, in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:

  1. Plan, coordinate and manage the administrative and safety and security activities of the department; serve as liaison between center and immediate community in security and law enforcement matters.

  2. Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance and implement departmental and personnel changes as approved by the center director and coordinated with the manager, human resources prior to implementation.

  3. Develop departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures, and review and recommend changes to budget authorization.

  4. Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting safety and security; coordinate with other departments promote center objectives.

  5. Regularly assess and audit department for contractual compliance and quality of services to students; prepare audit and assessment reports.

  6. Regularly inspect facility; maintain quality standards.

  7. Coordinate timely reports to the center director, particularly after normal duty hours and on weekends and holidays.

  8. Provide fire protection. Conduct frequent fire drills and inspections of the facility.

  9. Develop and conduct orientation and in-service training programs for staff and students; train staff and students in safety and security policies and procedures.

  10. Conduct periodic safety and security audits to identify deficiencies and recommend changes.

  11. Provide records and reports of departmental activities upon request by management, insurance underwriters, DOL and other government agencies.

  12. Coordinate with other center staff concerning security matters and conduct security related investigations; coordinate safety and security meetings with the manager, human resources.

  13. Develop and monitor schedules for 24-hour, seven day per week coverage.

  14. Coordinate searches of student rooms, lockers and belongings. Ensure proper protocols are followed.

  15. Act as liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and officials.

  16. Provide for the safety and security of students on center grounds through the direction and monitoring of the mobile advisor staff.

  17. Ensure the transportation needs of the center are being met.

  18. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.

  19. Participate in student employability programs and activities.

  20. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.

  21. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.

  22. Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor''s degree and two years related experience required, supervisory experience preferred. Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. State security guard certification required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
