Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager - Real Estate Life Safety Operations
Within the department of Real Estate Development and Facilities (RED+F), the Manager, Real Estate Life Safety-Operations is a member of the real estate life safety team in Real Estate & Housing and is responsible for supporting and coordinating all aspects of facilities life safety compliance. In this capacity, the Manager, Real Estate Life Safety-Operations will manage a team that may include Supervisors and Specialists and reports to the Assistant Director, Real Estate Life Safety.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure properties are managed in compliance with all applicable laws, codes, and standards, including any requirements of third-party regulators such as NYSDOH, The Joint Commission, AAAASF, DNV, CMS, EPA, CDC, FL-AHCA and authorities having jurisdiction;
Manage the collection and organization of documentation from required life safety inspection, testing and maintenance activities, and providing this data for presentation at monthly meetings of the NYULH System Environment of Care Committee, system hospital Sub-Committees, and Evidence of Standards Compliance (ESC) Committee, as required;
Serve as departmental liaison during accreditation surveys by The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies in connection with healthcare facilities life safety;
Represent the off-site portfolio at regulatory and other compliance meetings enterprise-wide;
Collaborate to schedule and manage life safety assessments of clinical portfolio; coordinating required response and corrective actions as necessary;
Monitor vendor maintenance responsiveness and overall performance, following the RED+F procurement policy and procedures for life safety vendors, working with Project Support Office (PSO) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) to identify qualified vendors and negotiate scope and best possible pricing;
Maintain appropriate records and documentation related to all supplies, vendors, contracts, and project work, and communication in an inspection-ready state at all times;
Perform and review Risk Assessments and Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) when necessary and provide relevant, timely communications to RED+F senior leadership, Chief Regulatory Officer and others as required;
Interface with other departments at NYULH including Environmental Health & Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Facilities Operations/Engineering, Infection Prevention & Control, MCIT, Security, Design/Construction, Faculty Group Practice, Hospital Operations, Emergency Management + Enterprise Resilience;
Participate in periodic review of institutional Management Plans, safety policies and protocols, and contribute to policy updates and formulation;
Engage in special projects and initiatives, and perform other duties as assigned.

Proficiency with the technology and media necessary to communicate with stakeholders in a manner that is open, accessible and clear; and
Discipline, maturity, and composure necessary to perform professionally within a demanding environment and navigate a challenging healthcare landscape.
