    Quality Assurance Manager of Exhibit Maintenance Job Description

    Wage: DOE

    Shift: Full time. Mon-Fri. Some Saturdays and evenings.

    At Thanksgiving Point, well-maintained exhibits are essential to creating safe, engaging, and memorable guest experiences. As the Exhibits Quality Assurance Manager at Curiosity Farms, you'll use your maintenance, repair, construction, and troubleshooting experience to keep interactive exhibits and environments operating at their best.

    This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a background in facilities maintenance, equipment repair, construction, fabrication, or a related technical trade who enjoys solving unusual problems and working on a wide variety of projects. Previous museum or exhibit experience is helpful but not required.

    What You'll Do

    • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair interactive exhibits, equipment, structures, and guest environments.
    • Identify opportunities to improve exhibit safety, reliability, durability, appearance, and performance.
    • Develop, document, and carry out preventive maintenance programs and schedules.
    • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, structural, and operational problems and determine practical solutions.
    • Perform routine and emergency maintenance using appropriate tools, materials, and repair methods.
    • Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
    • Fabricate or modify custom exhibit components using materials such as wood, metal, plastic, paint, and hardware.
    • Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, equipment manuals, and specifications.
    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, parts, and completed projects.
    • Manage daily maintenance requests and multiple planned projects while meeting deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.
    • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient shop and work environment.
    • Follow applicable safety procedures and promptly address potential hazards.
    • Collaborate with team members and other departments to develop effective, long-term solutions.
    • Support, train, mentor, and encourage other team members.
    • Attend meetings, training opportunities, and on-the-job skill development.
    • Treat guests and team members with respect and professionalism.
    • Be willing to assist outside regular duties or scheduled hours when operational needs require it.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    What We're Looking For

    • Experience with fabrication, construction, maintenance, repair, or related technical trades.
    • Experience in facilities maintenance, equipment repair, construction, fabrication, building maintenance, or a related technical trade.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance problems.
    • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
    • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and safety procedures.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs and projects.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, manuals, and instructions.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
    • Creativity, adaptability, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform the physical duties associated with hands-on maintenance work.
    • Ability to pass a background check.
    • Must be at least 18 years old.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • At least one year of experience in facilities maintenance, equipment maintenance, construction, fabrication, museum operations, theatrical production, or a related field.
    • Experience with one or more of the following: woodworking, metalworking, painting, basic electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, welding, or interactive equipment.
    • Experience creating or following preventive maintenance schedules.
    • Previous experience leading projects or training and supporting other team members.
    • Familiarity with work-order or maintenance-tracking systems.
