Description

The Manager, Producing Loan Originations (MPLO) maintains a personal book of business and directs a team of Mortgage Loan Originators. The MPLO is also responsible for helping members purchase homes and save money by refinancing existing mortgages by effectively building relationships with builders, real estate agents and other outside lead sources in our Columbus region. 

1)      Manages the day-to-day operations of their team of loan originators to include completeness of applications, establishing and maintaining member follow up procedures, pipeline management, assisting originators with individual loan support and coordinating schedules. Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed. Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated. (35%)

2)      Originates first mortgages for members and non-members. Explains the credit union’s mortgage programs and aids in the selection of mortgage products. Reviews loan conditions with borrowers, collects required documentation, and manages personal pipeline. (25%)

3)      Manages lead process distribution, referral systems and NPS Survey results to include internet applications, member center referral systems, NPS Surveys, ACD phone line and Total Expert system management system to ensure lead sources are maximized. Engages in networking activities outside the credit union (such as DMBA, CMBA or Realtor functions in markets we operate in) to promote WPCU and its loan origination capabilities.  (15%) 

4)      To continue growing, the PLOM is expected to consistently be engaged in recruiting activities to bring loan originators to the credit union. The recruiting process is often a longer-term situation as it may require numerous contacts with a candidate before they are ready to change employers. Build a recruiting pipeline of strong candidates and constantly maintain contact with them so that when an opportunity arises to bring in a new talent, WPCU is positioned well to hire these individuals. (10%)

5)      Coordinates and conducts the sales training and team meetings needed for loan originators to provide a strong mortgage lending knowledge of products and policies and the promotion of best practices while delivering superior service experience to members. (10%)

6)      Manages compliance with all regulatory guidelines principally Reg B and Fair Lending ensuring that loan originators meet all regulatory timeframes and that they are following guidelines regarding fair lending practices which conform to all relevant rules and regulations. Assist with external audits, NCUA examinations and, in near future, CFPB audits as needed (5%)

 



Required Skills

A.     Specialized or Technical Knowledge and Skills: The Manager, Producing Loan Originations possesses the following knowledge and skills:

1)      A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

2)      A minimum of 5 years specific mortgage origination experience.

3)      Prior management experience preferred but not required.   Previous experience as an originating manager with experience to include supervision and/or thorough understanding of processing, underwriting, and closing is preferred.

4)      NMLS registration to be SAFE Act compliant.

5)      Demonstrated knowledge of mortgage loan products, including conventional and government loans along with underwriting guidelines.

6)      Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state regulations/laws as they pertain to mortgage lending and ability to adhere to them.

7)      Demonstrated ability to analyze, reason, problem solve and prioritize work independently.

8)      Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and solve problems and/or design recommendations to accomplish business and tactical goals.

9)      Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products.
