POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager, Payroll Insights & Reporting supports the Director of Payroll by coordinating special payroll programs, standardized templates, controls, documentation, data validation, and process improvements. In partnership with the Payroll Manager, who oversees daily payroll processing, this role ensures non-routine payroll activities are complete, accurate, approved, and delivered on schedule. Reporting is focused on practical operational needs, exceptions, reconciliations, and management insights rather than a large-scale reporting function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Special Payments & Payroll Programs

  • Coordinate bonus, commission, incentive, retention, sign-on, severance, relocation, and other special payments with HR, Compensation, Finance, and Payroll Operations.
  • Develop submission templates, approval requirements, calendars, and tracking tools; validate payment files and resolve missing or inconsistent information before payroll deadlines.
  • Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready support for non-routine payments.

Insights, Templates & Standardization

  • Create and maintain practical payroll reports, exception summaries, reconciliations, trackers, forms, checklists, and standardized intake templates.
  • Analyze recurring exceptions, errors, and process trends; provide clear insights and recommendations to the Director of Payroll and business partners.
  • Maintain SOPs, desk guides, workflow documentation, training materials, and version control for assigned processes.

Controls, Compliance & Reconciliations

  • Perform data validation, reasonableness reviews, and reconciliations for assigned payroll programs and special payment files.
  • Support SOX controls, audit requests, and compliance activities by maintaining evidence of approvals, reviews, reconciliations, and issue resolution.
  • Escalate recurring errors, control concerns, and compliance risks to the Director of Payroll.

Process Improvement, Systems & Partnership

  • Identify opportunities to simplify and strengthen payroll processes, templates, controls, and handoffs.
  • Lead or support payroll projects, system enhancements, user acceptance testing, workflow changes, and implementation validation.
  • Partner closely with the Payroll Manager to align activities with payroll calendars and ensure approved inputs transition smoothly into processing.
  • Provide guidance and training to Payroll, HR, Compensation, Finance, and other stakeholders on requirements, timelines, and procedures.

CORE COMPETENCIES & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Payroll administration and special payment coordination
  • Template, SOP, and process documentation development
  • Data validation, reconciliations, controls, and audit support
  • Analytical problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Cross-functional communication, organization, and follow-through
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5-8 years of progressive payroll or related experience
  • Experience with bonus, incentive, or special payments
  • Advanced Excel; Dayforce or comparable payroll system experience
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data validation, reporting support, and payroll-related analysis preferred

The salary range for this role is $95,000-$110,000 per year. This role is also eligible for commission. Compensation is determined during our interview process by assessing a candidate's experience and skills relative to internal peers and market benchmarks evaluated for the scope and responsibilities of the position.
