A 267-bed hospital in Fort Walton Beach, Florida is seeking a Manager of Surgical Services to oversee surgical unit operations. The facility features an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, a Cancer Care Center, open-heart surgery services, and a Level II Trauma Center. This is an on-site leadership role with a daytime schedule.

Reporting to the Director of Surgical Services, this manager carries 24-hour accountability for a surgical unit comprising 10 main OR suites and 2 CVOR suites, overseeing approximately 62 FTEs and an average daily volume of 25 cases. The manager ensures that nursing practice standards, policies, and procedures meet all legal, accrediting, and regulatory agency requirements while driving ongoing quality improvement programs tied to core measures and patient safety goals. This role leads an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, partnering with physicians and the broader care team to ensure continuity and coordination across services and departments. The manager also maintains appropriate equipment and supply levels, conducts proactive rounding, and cultivates a patient-centered, healing environment throughout the unit.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of recent acute care Operating Room leadership experience required (within the last year)
  • Current Registered Nurse license required
  • Associate degree required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
