Our client, a prominent and mission-driven health system dedicated to providing high-quality patient care, is hiring a Payroll Manager to lead and optimize its complex payroll operations across multiple states and diverse formats. This is a critical role for a strategic and detail-oriented professional seeking to make a meaningful impact within a sophisticated healthcare environment. The Payroll Manager will oversee accurate payroll processing for approximately 5,000 employees, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and service excellence while collaborating closely with Finance, HR, and IT leadership to support continuous process improvements and system enhancements.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily payroll operations across biweekly and weekly cycles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to legal and organizational standards.
- Supervise and mentor payroll staff, fostering high performance, effective cross-training, and excellent customer service.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to maintain and enhance payroll systems, including ADP Enterprise, Kronos, and Oracle HR modules.
- Process complex payroll transactions such as retroactive pay, bonuses, severance, and stipends.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and wage and hour laws.
- Prepare detailed payroll reports for month-end close and provide support for ad hoc reporting requirements.
- Assist in internal and external audits by compiling payroll documentation and performing reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and control measures.
- Communicate payroll policies and processes effectively to employees, including participation in new hire orientations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 to 5+ years of payroll experience, including supervisory or leadership roles.
- Proven experience managing multi-state payroll in organizations of 1,000+ employees, preferably within healthcare.
- Hands-on proficiency with ADP Enterprise and Kronos (Dimensions experience advantageous).
- Strong Excel skills, including vlookups, data analysis, and reporting.
- Familiarity with Oracle HRIS or similar ERP systems preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments.
