Description:
Position Summary
This position is responsible for working independently and proactively on numerous complex financial reporting and accounting tasks and will be an instrumental member of the Accounting team. This position is responsible for the supervision of other financial reporting staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position comes with the following minimum set of responsibilities and requires an individual to be proficient in performing the listed duties:
- Responsible for ensuring the financial statements are in line with GAAP.
- Responsible for drafting and completing technical accounting memos as needed.
- Responsible for producing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (by entity and consolidated).
- Responsible for reviews and tie-out of internal and external monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Responsible for performing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing duties.
- Responsible for preparing monthly general ledger entries for multiple entities.
- Responsible for analytical review of financial statements (including review of BS and IS variance analyses).
- Responsible for preparing schedules underlying financial statements and disclosures.
- Responsible for posting accruals for Ad Valorem, G&A, Interest, Bonus, LOE, and Revenue.
- Responsible for reconciling account balances, including Cash, A/R, O&G Assets, A/P, Accruals, Debt, and ARO.
- Responsible for completing ad-hoc analysis, variance analysis, and special projects that require knowledge of oil and gas accounting.
- Responsible for various reporting packages to outside entities and auditors.
- Responsible for maintaining employee confidence and the protection of corporate assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
- Responsible for supervising other financial reporting staff.
- Responsible for working safely within Verdun's health, safety, and environmental standards, looking out for the people around them, and actively supporting HS&E programs and policies throughout the Company.

Qualifications & Skills
Below are the minimum education, experience, and skills required or preferred for this position:
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or equivalent preferred.
- At least 7 years' oil and gas accounting or financial reporting experience required.
- Big Four or audit experience with knowledge of SEC reporting and controls preferred.
Other Skills
- Ability to meet strict deadlines by working off-hours as required to achieve goals.
- Ability to work independently on multiple diverse tasks of differing priorities without supervision.
Computer Skills
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Expert-level Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of BOLO accounting software preferred.
Certificates and Licenses
- Certified Public Accountant preferred.
