A Manager of Emergency Services opportunity is available in Gainesville, FL at a 523-bed acute care hospital certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and accredited as a Chest Pain Center by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), with designations as a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery and Bariatric Surgery.
The role. This manager oversees the daily operations and staffing of an emergency department with 32 main ER beds plus an 11-bed Care Path area, seeing approximately 130 patients per day. The position reports to a Director of Emergency Services and leads a team of 55 FTEs, including 4 CNCs functioning in a capacity similar to assistant nurse managers. Core responsibilities include operationalizing evidence-based nursing practice to drive clinical quality and patient safety outcomes, managing admissions and discharge throughput, and ensuring staff are assigned according to clinical competency and patient acuity. The manager monitors and evaluates nursing care delivery against established standards, oversees staff scheduling in alignment with productivity and patient care needs, and manages operating expenses including supply and equipment utilization.
What we're looking for.- Recent acute emergency services leadership experience required ideally 23+ years of recent, consistent leadership experience; willing to review Charge Nurse experience but prefer Assistant Nurse Manager, Supervisor, or Manager-level background
- Strong and recent acute care emergency services clinical experience required (35+ years)
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (or PALS) required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (or ENPC) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
- Trauma Nursing Core Course preferred
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program preferred
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention preferred
Schedule. Day shift with rotating weekends; as a leadership role, availability to support evening, night, and weekend shifts as needed is expected.
Compensation. $100 - $120,000 per year plus Sign-on bonus available
