Manager, Infection Control

Job Summary

The Manager of infection prevention and control guides all activities related to monitoring and investigating of known or suspected sources of hospital and community acquired cases of infections in order to control and prevent further infections.

Essential Functions

• 
  
• Review sterilization and disinfection techniques and recommends changes as needed.
• 
  
• Assists in providing related education to staff.
• 
  
• Knowledgeable with a variety of infection prevention and control principles, practices, and procedures.
• 
  
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• 
  
• Analyzes and report data on healthcare acquired infections from all hospital departments and evaluates each case.
• 
  
• Leads regularly scheduled hospital infection control meetings.
• 
  
• Create and review infection prevention and control policies to meet regulatory requirements.
• 
  

• 
  
• Ensures that all required Hospital and Dialysis regulatory data needs are met and ensures the accuracy of the data
• 
  
• Works with Chief Medical Officer to identify quality issues that require action or further study.
• 
  
• Leads and participates on all assigned projects. Meets long-term and short-term deadlines
• 
  
• Provides leadership with internal and external surveys
• 
  
• Participates actively and positively in all meetings
• 
  
• Is a source of information on Joint Commission and Conditions of Participation standards in regard to Infection Prevention
• 
  
• Leads the Infection Prevention presentation for the Joint Commission Survey, as well as the group interview. Contributes to all other Infection Prevention Joint Commission projects as needed.

Minimum Education/Certifications

Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Related Field.

Certification in Infection Prevention required (CIC).

Minimum Work Experience

Two years of Infection Prevention experience and one year of management experience.

In-depth knowledge of Joint Commission Standards and CMS Conditions of Participation, as well as New Jersey regulations.
