Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, or relevant private sector or industry associations.
• Experience with emerging technology public policy trends in the areas such as cybersecurity, cloud, cross-border data flow and digital trade, competition, or artificial intelligence.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience leading complex initiatives across cross-functional teams (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Product, Engineering, and Sales teams).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex regulatory and policy matters into easily understood language.
• Excellent people and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong federal government contacts.
• Expertise and relationships with State, Local or International Governments.

You will communicate policy opportunities and risks to corporate and government leaders, shape new cyber policy through proposed regulatory and industry standards, and serve as an experienced hard worker in executive and legislative branch processes to ensure our core interests are represented.

Google Client Services, an entity within the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team, manages the company's engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy in the United States. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others' views and opinions, and distill and share the company's perspectives with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the Internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $141000 - $205000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Support the continued growth and maturity of the Wiz government affairs program, with a focus on educating federal policymakers, crafting a favorable regulatory environment and providing support to public sector market development.
• Identify the need for, and lead the development of, government affairs products for both internal and external consumption.
• Assist and advise the Global Head of Government Affairs for Wiz on policy developments, challenges and opportunities, including both tactical and long-term strategic planning.
• Manage engagement with third-party influencers in the policy environment, including think tanks, civil society groups, philanthropies and other bodies in support of Wiz priorities.
• Publish, speak publicly and on the record on behalf of Wiz.
