SUMMARY

General Gritts is much more than a retail store. Open year-round in the heart of Snowbird, it serves as a neighborhood market, deli, liquor store, grab-and-go stop, and one of the canyon's favorite lunch destinations. Known for its made-to-order sandwiches, unique grocery selection, and products tailored to skiers, riders, lodging guests, and local residents, General Gritts plays a key role in the guest experience.

As the Retail Manager, you'll lead all aspects of this multi-faceted operation, overseeing grocery, deli, liquor, and retail sales while creating an exceptional experience for guests and locals alike. You'll manage a diverse team, drive sales performance, maintain high operational standards, and keep a fast-paced, year-round business running smoothly. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys retail, food service, and hospitality and takes pride in building a great team and community gathering place.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Lead and support a team of up to 20 employees, including cashiers and deli staff. Hire, train, schedule, and coach team members to deliver excellent service.
• Oversee store operations including inventory, ordering, merchandising, and cleanliness across all departments.
• Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized environment for guests and employees.
• Monitor and manage labor, food, and supply costs to meet budget goals.
• Conduct and support regular inventory counts and ordering processes.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, alcohol handling, and company policies.
• Work floor shifts regularly, balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on customer service.
• Collaborate with other managers to optimize product mix, promotions, and guest experience.
• Uphold Snowbird’s standards for professionalism, appearance, and guest interaction.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

• 2–4 years of experience in retail, grocery, or food service management.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Experience with inventory, ordering, and scheduling.
• Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment, including meat slicers and other appliances.
• Familiarity with or ability to learn YellowDog (inventory management), Coupa (procurement), Square (point of sale), Mashgin (self serve point of sale), Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to manage sensitive guest information in compliance with company policies.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

WORK SCHEDULE

• Schedule varies and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be prepared to stay overnight during road closures.
• May experience high guest volumes, tight deadlines, winter weather, and frequent interruptions.
• Frequent standing, lifting, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
