Overall Job Summary

The responsibilities for this position include designing, performing, and coordinating economic and financial forecasting and analyses for use in business decisions across all functional areas. This position is the lead role on long-range budget planning and tracking macroeconomic indicators for the Store Operations and Real Estate functions and their impact on Tractor Supply Company (TSC). This position is responsible for leading people.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Provide high level financial analytical support to various department leadership teams to be used in key business decisions.
  • Design, perform, report, and present insightful business analyses that address financial, operational and accounting implications, as well as pinpoint key drivers and identify short- and long-term action steps that focus on current and future business implications.
  • Deliver analytical support to senior management for quarterly investor conference calls and assist in the preparation of the financial package for the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate with leadership on high-profile strategic projects, including Store Labor Productivity, New Store Performance, Capital Allocation, Sale Leasebacks, Fee Development, and other strategic initiatives involving the Store Operations & Real Estate functions.
  • Own all things related to process development and execution of the Sale Leaseback and Fee Development program. Specifics will include: (a) complex financial modeling, (b) managing the annual budget and cost management at a project level for fee-developed stores, (c) managing the timing of capital outlays associated with $200-300M of annual spend, and (d) assisting in managing multiple financial matters associated with the fee and future self-development program (e.g., legal issues, tax benefits associated with 1031 exchange to maximize the tax benefits, selection of stores to be sold each year to manage the long-term programmatic approach over the next 10-15 years being marketed to the investment community, etc.)
  • Provide analytical and strategic support to senior business leaders and all departments in contract negotiations, business reviews and forecasts.
  • Support the long-range planning, strategic planning, and budgeting processes for Store Operations and Real Estate.
  • Conduct and supervise complex financial analyses utilizing cash flow/return on investment spreadsheet models and other analytical tools to support significant business and investment decisions.
  • Conduct, perform, report, and present special financial and statistical studies in coordination with other departments.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 6+ years of related business or retail experience.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business or related field is preferred. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or related advanced degree is desired. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Professional Certifications: CPA preferred, but not required.

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Strong communication, leadership, analystical, and team building skills.
  • Ability to make decisions without immediate supervision.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Business Objects and Cognos preferred.
