    Description

    Position Summary: Manages day to day shift operations of the Environmental Services department, which includes Laundry and Housekeeping. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies and that all operations meet the required quality standards. Supervises and manages employees to ensure that all schedules/tasks are completed efficiently. Oversees facility housekeeping program and ensures the facility is representative of clean, orderly, and attractive conditions to patients, residents and visitors. Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.

    Critical Tasks:

    • Ensures that the laundry operations are efficient while simultaneously ensuring the health, comfort, and safety of all residents in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
    • Submits recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space. Participates in the selection and purchase of new furnishings.
    • Monitors all service supplies and equipment and orders additional inventory when necessary to ensure materials are readily available.
    • Checks the finished products of staff to ensure assignments are completed with high quality.
    • Conducts tests on the strength of chemicals and products utilized.
    • Investigates new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.
    • Inspects food product refrigeration equipment to ensure cleanliness and that spoiled foods are discarded promptly.
    • Establishes standards and procedures for all employees and provides direction, guidance, and assistance, when required.
    • Creates staff development plans and performance evaluations while implementing disciplinary actions, when necessary.
    • Plans work schedules to ensure adequate services and coverage are maintained.
    • Coordinates the cleaning schedule for all buildings within GRHC campus and modifies schedules to address special situations.
    • Schedules flow of work through sorting, washing, and ironing departments, taking into consideration the number of items to be laundered and the capacity of equipment.
    • Prepares and analyzes reports on labor cost and production operations to determine whether cost standards are being met.
    • Maintains effective and highly productive relationships with all operating departments and work teams.
    • Maintains all departmental records consistently and accurately.
    • Performs other job related activities as requested/required.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • 3 years of experience in Environmental Services.
    • Laundry sanitization experience in a medical facility preferred.
    • 1 year of supervisory/managerial experience preferred.
    • Employment at the Caring House requires AZ Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card.
    • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
