Manager, Engineering

We are looking for anEngineering Manager to build a top-tier software organization to help designand implement our costumer´s next gen architecture. You will mentor otherengineers, scale the team and can be a lead on projects. You will promotepositive change in the work environment with a track record of delivering oncommitments. You will communicate proactively and effectively to differentkinds of audiences, including executives and non-technical partners.

You will be based at ourheadquarters in Los Angeles, CA and will report to Director/Senior Director ofEngineering.

Job Description

Technical leader:

Guide and mentor team membersregarding architecture and best practices

Review and coach team onproject designs for design review presentations

Ensure all projects that affectthe live site are presented in design review

Ensure all projects that have asystem impact undergo a deployment review

Influence technical directionof the group

Initiates, leads and deliversimprovements in the effectiveness of engineers across multiple teams

Brings teams together, findsand promotes solutions when issues inhibit effectiveness of multiple teams

Manage the team as if it's asmall startup in a bigger ecosystem with broad cross-team mindset.

Product leader:

Analyze feature sets for marketeffectiveness: facilitate appropriate feedback and discussions with Product andDesign

Analyze feature sets forimplementation efficiency and performance: facilitates feedback and discussionswith Product and Design

Forge strong partnership withproduct management and other key areas of the business

Communicate proactively andoften with peers, executives and team members

Quality Champion:

Ensure projects are fullytested before being deployed

Ensure projects have anappropriate amount of automated and manual tests

Deployment plans are wellconsidered and include appropriate scalability and load tests.

Deployments are monitored toensure success

Features are properly monitoredand maintained after they go live.

Resource manager:

Resources are being deployedappropriately and efficiently with regard to product management goals

Resource usage, changes, andschedules are kept up-to-date and are communicated effectively

Actively participate inrecruiting

Requirements

10+ years software developmentexperience

5+ years previous managementexperience

Experience building scalable,high available customer-facing cloud applications

Experience building teamsincluding, recruiting and retention

Familiarity with Agile/Scrummethodologies

Legally eligible to work in theU.S. on an ongoing basis
