Manager, Cost Accounting

The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the cost accounting function, including inventory valuation, standard costing, variance analysis, and financial reporting. You will also be responsible for Program Cost Analyst(s) that are matrixed to Program Management Offices (PMOs) to provide program-level cost analytics and leadership within PMOs to ensure financial targets are achieved. You will partner closely with Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain and other business unit leadership to provide actionable insights that drive cost awareness, efficiency, profitability, and informed decision-making.

This role is fully on-site at the Aston, PA facility.

Location: Aston, PA

Salary: $155,000 - $165,000

Your Challenge

Cost Accounting & Financial Oversight

  • Lead all cost accounting activities, including standard costing, inventory accounting, and cost allocations.

  • Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.

  • Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead, scrap) and provide clear explanations to leadership.

  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation and reconciliation in compliance with accounting standards including cycle count requirements adherence, audit, and full physical inventory as required.

  • Oversee month-end close processes related to cost accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare and present detailed cost analysis and reports to support business decisions. Analytics includes at the business unit level, and for the Program Management Offices by matrixed Program Financial Analyst(s) for Program-level cost performance vs. budget.

  • Provides FP&A to support business unit level budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.

  • Develop and/or maintain KPIs related to cost performance, labor efficiency, and production metrics, among others.

  • Provide insights into cost reduction opportunities and operational efficiencies, recommend improvement initiatives, ability to lead such initiatives if assigned.

Strategic Modeling & Forecasting

  • Develop and maintain financial models to improve forecasting, budgeting, and long-term strategic planning.

  • Lead cost forecasting processes, including scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessment.

  • Provide forward-looking insights on cost trends, pricing strategies, and margin improvement opportunities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial forecasts with operational plans and business objectives.

  • Support capital expenditure analysis and ROI modeling for new projects or investments.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Manage and develop cost accounting staff, including Program Financial Analyst(s) matrixed to PMOs providing guidance, oversight, coaching and performance feedback.

  • Establish annual goals of all direct reports and ensure alignment with organizational objectives in alignment with business unit annual goal setting and measurement process.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and present assigned cost analysis reports, KPIs, and dashboards to senior leadership. Develop new reports as needed to provide improved performance feedback,

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and financial regulations.

  • Maintain strong internal controls over inventory and cost accounting processes.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).

  • 7 years of cost accounting experience in a complex manufacturing environment.

  • 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience highly preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with inventory and warehouse management including cycle count.

  • Experience with standard costing systems and variance analysis.

  • Experience or ability to develop capability to extract ERP financial information (Infor Syteline ideally, or similar)

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Capability or desire to develop ability to present to senior management.

  • Flexible in task assignments / ability to work across departmental lines.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

  • Must be a US Citizen.
