Purpose of Job:
The Manager, Commercial Finance provides financial leadership and vision across the business to ensure that financial commitments are achieved. This role is a face to the Officer team and senior Commercial leadership and acts as a business partner to the segment to provide analytical rigor and insight to drive profitable growth. This is a critical role in driving financial accountability and acumen through the organization. This role is a member of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team, reporting to the Director, Finance for Commercial and Supply Chain, and is responsible for the ongoing coaching and development of their Team Members.
Job Components:
Accountable for the financial management of IB's shipment P&L, accounting for ~$1.5B in revenue, ~$300M+ in gross profit and ~$70M in operating expenses.
Assess and communicate key drivers of revenue growth to Commercial leadership as well as provide guidance and recommendations on additional levers to drive profitable revenue growth
Directly partner with the Commercial leadership team to ensure that pricing analytics are robust and fully-vetted and that all appropriate pricing actions are being implemented by the Commercial team
Responsible for customer profitability reporting and partnership with the Commercial team to develop multi-step plans to re-align profitability by customer
Responsible for analytics on drivers of gross profit, including actionable volume, rate and mix analytics
Responsible for return on investment analytics on Marketing spending; partner with the Marketing organization to redirect investment dollars into higher returning marketing platforms/vehicles
Responsible for appropriate operating expense management with the Commercial team, including people costs and all discretionary spend; partner to build and instill a zero-based budgeting mindset within the Commercial team
Accountable for all phases of the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function across the Commercial segment
Oversee timely and accurate periodic reporting of actual performance versus planned/forecast expectations and prior year performance. Provide insightful explanations of variances and recommendations on risks and opportunities to the budget/forecast.
Present financial results to Finance and Commercial leadership in Monthly Business Reviews
Accountable for all phases of the financial planning cycle including collection, consolidation, preparation, and maintenance of data, models, and schedules
Analyze and explain trends not consistent with plan and/or forecasts to business leadership. Assess and communicate key risks and opportunities to plan and/or forecasts to Commercial leadership; provide guidance and recommendations to course correct performance, as necessary
Collaborate with Commercial leadership on the development, evaluation and execution of specific business initiatives; appropriately challenge and fully vet decisions that may negatively impact IB's financial standing
Serve as the financial thought leader for the Commercial segment and other functions across the organization and play a major role in the development of new strategies.
Lead and motivate team, promoting a working environment aligned with IB's Purpose & Values
Participate in or lead other projects and duties as required/assigned.
