Role Overview:
The Manager, Capital Programs is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of capital programs on the Entrepreneurship and Small Business team. This individual is responsible for aiding in the implementation and execution of the projects, programs, and sprints related to the IEDCs innovation, entrepreneurial, and small business debt and equity programs.
Salary:
The salary range for this position is $63,787 - $66,000, commensurate with education and work experience.
A Day in the Life:
Program Management:
Assist in planning and executing the capital programming in alignment with team strategic goals and priorities.
Day-to-day operations of capital programming for team including, but not limited to, financial management, data management, partner management, etc. for SSBCI capital programs, direct investment programs, capital access program, the venture capital investment tax credit, the state's fund of funds programs, and other similar programs.
Advise VP of Venture Finance on programming, management, and policy matters.
Aid in the roll-out and on-going promotion of the IEDC's capital programs and initiatives.
Manage programs that support capital access for small businesses in the state, research best practices in state and institutional-derived capital programming and assist with policy and program development.
Operations and Process Management:
Develop, implement and manage operational processes and applicable documentation for the Capital team at the IEDC including but not limited to reporting, financial management, annual compliance, strategic planning, and operational policies and procedures.
Assist in compiling and entering programmatic data and monitor organizational output and performance.
Manage completion of grant proposals, including narrative and budget.
Manage and report on programs, initiatives, and grant projects to internal and external stakeholders.
Manage planning and execution of various meetings and events, including creation of reports, agendas, and logistics.
Resource Development:
Assist in the assessment, development and rollout of statewide capital initiatives and business development tools and resources.
Aid in the creation of and roll out of marketing materials, collateral, and business development materials for Capital programming.
Assist in the development and implementation of communication plans for programs, events, and partnerships.
Ensure proactive relationship building and resource sharing between partners and IEDC initiatives, resources, and departments.
Develop, procure and maintain close working relationships with private and public partners
What You'll Need for Success:
Education:
Bachelors degree in business, economics, finance, entrepreneurship, or other directly related field and/or substantial industry experience required
JD, MBA, or other advanced business degree, MPA or other advanced degree in a related field preferred.
Economic Development industry credentials such as CEcD or DFCP preferred.
Experience/Knowledge:
Minimum:
2-3 years related professional work experience
Administrative/business management experience
Project management experience
Significant computer experience, including MIS administration, using Microsoft Office; familiarity with financial modeling software is a plus
Experience in analyzing startups and small businesses and executing initiatives to meet identified needs
Preferred:
Knowledge and/or experience about private markets, specifically venture capital and lending experience
Public sector or grants management experience
Operational experience and knowledge of SBDC program management and administration
Experience in working with senior leaders in business or the community
Experience working with U.S. Treasury SSBCI programs
