Job Purpose:

Pacsun is seeking an experienced IT Business Intelligence (BI) Manager to lead and evolve the company's business analytics and reporting ecosystem, delivering data-driven insights across merchandising, planning, inventory management, omnichannel sales, supply-chain, and finance. This role operates at the intersection of business reporting and BI technology, enabling informed decision-making through scalable and high-performing BI solutions.

The BI Manager will partner closely with business executives, end users, and technology stakeholders including data engineers and report developers, to transform complex internal and external data into actionable insights. This role will play a key part in redefining how data is leveraged across the organization, ensuring BI capabilities are designed for performance, availability, and scalability.

The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of apparel retail and modern BI technologies, with a forward-thinking, analytical mindset and a passion for using data to drive operational excellence and business growth.

Core Accountabilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Collaborate with stakeholders. Communicate effectively with planning, merchandising, finance, supply‑chain, retail, e-commerce and executive leadership to understand business processes and align data solutions with organizational goals. Serve as the escalation point to remove roadblocks and ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Build and lead the BI team. Manage a team of BI developers and data engineers (3-5 people) and contract resources. Provide coaching, mentorship and technical oversight to develop a high‑performing team.
  • Develop BI strategy and roadmap. Recommend and maintain Pacsun's enterprise‑wide BI and self‑service analytics roadmap, including solution standardization. Stay current with emerging BI, data‑warehousing and analytics technologies.

Data Architecture & Engineering

  • Own the data‑warehouse environment. Manage Pacsun's Snowflake cloud‑native data‑warehouse platform. Design scalable data models and oversee ETL/ELT processes, ensuring data is stored, processed and analyzed efficiently.
  • Implement data governance and quality. Establish BI governance, naming standards, certified datasets and semantic layers. Develop KPIs and service‑level agreements for data availability and oversee data quality, security and compliance.
  • Coordinate with data engineers. Work closely with data engineering to optimize data pipelines and queries, integrate ERP data structures and primary business functions, and support cross‑cloud data sharing.

Reporting and Analytics

  • Develop reports and dashboards. Design and deliver reports and dashboards that provide precise views of business performance. Use MicroStrategy to build interactive dashboards and self‑service analytics; provide hands‑on development and migration of BI assets. Experience designing semantic layers and metadata repositories is essential.
  • Enable self‑service analytics and data literacy. Promote data‑literacy programs across the enterprise and deliver training to business users.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement. Conduct proof‑of‑concepts and prototypes to test emerging technologies, evaluate new data sources and BI tools, and lead initiatives that enhance performance and cost efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience in retail is required.

  • Experience leading and mentoring teams of BI professionals and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with executives, business users, and technical teams, translating business needs into data requirements, and technical concepts into clear business language.
