Job%20Title/High%20Level%20Position%20Summary:%20The%20Manager,%20Base%20Business%20directs%20the%20sustaining%20engineering%20activities%20for%20the%20Enabling%20Technologies%20business%20unit.%20In%20addition%20to%20managing%20product%20development%20resources,%20the%20Manager%20individually%20contributes%20to%20development%20efforts.%20This%20includes%20but%20is%20not%20limited%20to%20creating%20prototypes,%20testing,%20and%20documenting%20test%20results;%20scheduling,%20coordinating,%20and%20managing%20multiple%20projects;%20and%20communicating%20with%20vendors%20to%20ensure%20proper%20design%20transfer.%20The%20Manager%20will%20be%20responsible%20for%20products%20including%20mechanical%20surgical%20instrumentation,%20electronic%20hardware,%20and%20software%20used%20by%20electronic%20hardware.

Key%20Responsibilities:

• Manage%20project%20prioritization%20and%20resource%20allocation

• Mentor%20direct%20reports%20by%20providing%20technical%20guidance,%20coaching,%20performance%20management,%20and%20professional%20development%20opportunities 

• Participate%20in%20product%20development%20including%20concept,%20generation,%20decision%20matrices,%20prototype,%20manufacture,%20and%20associated%20metrics

• Provide%20expert%20product%20leadership%20for%20the%20development%20projects%20assigned;%20this%20includes%20an%20unrelenting%20attention%20to%20minimizing%20project%20delays%20and%20resource%20overages

• Creates%20product%20designs%20and%20documentation%20used%20to%20substantiate%20those%20devices%20%28i.e.%20risk%20assessments,%20verification/validation%20activities,%20design%20review%20documentation,%20etc.%29

• Develops%20detailed%20engineering%20drawings%20using%203-D%20Modeling%20to%20document%20designs%20and%20design%20changes%20%28SolidWorks%29

• Confers%20with%20cross-functional%20team%20to%20identify%20tasks%20and%20requirements%20%28Product%20Development,%20Manufacturing%20Engineers,%20Quality%20Engineers,%20Marketing,%20Purchasing%20and%20Regulatory%20Affairs%29

• Maintains%20all%20documentation%20necessary%20for%20a%20Design%20History%20File%20%28DHF%29,%20including%20Design%20Input%20Documents,%20Design%20Validation%20Plans/Reports,%20Test%20Protocols/Reports,%20and%20Design%20Input/Output%20Matrix.

• Assist%20in%20the%20regulatory%20submission%20process%28FDA%20510k,%20EU%20MDR,%20TGA,%20PMDA%29%20by%20providing%20official%20information%20for%20regulatory%20review

Minimum%20Basic%20Qualifications:

• Bachelor's%20degree%20in%20an%20engineering%20discipline

• 8+%20years%20of%20professional%20experience%20%286+%20years%20with%20a%20Masters%20degree%29

• Experience%20in%20medical%20device%20product%20development

• Experience%20with%20enabling%20technology%20%28pre%20operative%20planning,%20navigation,%20robotics%29%20preferred.

• Familiarity%20with%20software%20development%20processes

• Ability%20to%20apply%20mathematical%20operations%20to%20such%20tasks%20as%20frequency%20distribution,%20determination%20of%20test%20reliability%20and%20validity,%20analysis.

• Ability%20to%20define%20problems,%20collect%20data,%20establish%20facts,%20and%20draw%20valid%20conclusions.

• Ability%20to%20interpret%20an%20extensive%20variety%20of%20technical%20instructions%20in%20mathematical%20or%20diagram%20form%20and%20deal%20with%20several%20abstract%20and%20concrete%20variables.

• Must%20be%20experienced%20in%20MS%20Word,%20Excel%20and%20Project.

• Experience%20with%203D%20CAD%20packages%20%28SolidWorks%20preferred%29%20 

• Working%20knowledge%20and%20requirements%20of%20ISO%2013485%20and%2021CFR820.

Travel%20Requirements:

• <5%%20of%20travel%20required

Desired%20Characteristics:

• Previous%20experience%20managing%20engineers

• Previous%20experience%20developing%20orthopedic%20medical%20devices%28either%20implant%20development%20or%20enabling%20technology%20used%20with%20orthopedic%20implants%29

• Previous%20experience%20leading%20projects%20of%20moderate%20to%20large%20scope%20and%20complexity

Work%20Environment:

• While%20performing%20the%20duties%20of%20this%20job,%20the%20employee%20is%20exposed%20to%20the%20manufacturing%20environment.

• While%20performing%20the%20duties%20of%20this%20job,%20the%20employee%20is%20exposed%20to%20the%20office%20environment.

• Employee%20is%20expected%20to%20work%20in%20varying%20environments,%20including%20office%20setting,%20mechanical%20testing%20lab,%20and%20cadaver%20lab.

• The%20noise%20level%20in%20the%20work%20environment%20is%20usually%20moderate.

Physical%20Demands:
