    Job Title: Manager Automation Systems
    Location: Onsite Milford CT
    Type: Direct Hire Full Time
     Salary: $100-130K DOE Plus discretionary Bonus and Excellent Benefits

    Job Summary
    The Automation Engineering Manager researches, plans, directs, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and automation systems. This position directs and coordinates activities related to the design, fabrication, application, installation, and optimization of automation systems. The role also supervises, guides, and trains engineering and field service personnel.

    Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Directly supervise engineering professionals and field service technicians.
    • Interview, hire, train, and develop employees.
    • Plan, assign, and direct work and establish performance goals.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
    • Address employee concerns, resolve problems, and support a positive work environment.
    Operations
    • Research, analyze, and develop customer design proposals, quotations, and specifications.
    • Perform applications engineering and technical sales functions in collaboration with customers.
    • Design products and systems, including instruments, controls, robots, motors, machinery, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, and heat-transfer systems.
    • Plan and direct engineering personnel in the design and fabrication of machinery and equipment.
    • Direct activities related to purchasing, manufacturing, final assembly, inspection, shipment, and installation of equipment.
    • Ensure systems conform to engineering designs, customer specifications, quality requirements, and established cost parameters.
    • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to improve system performance and eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
    • Manage operating expenses within the overall engineering budget and report on budgetary performance.
    • Travel as needed for trade shows, applications engineering activities, customer visits, and other business-related activities.
    Safety
    • Comply with EH&S policies and all applicable regulatory and company safety requirements.
    • Report unsafe conditions, practices, or environmental concerns to management to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
    Product Safety and Quality
    • Follow all product safety and quality standards.
    • Follow GMP requirements related to food-contact packaging as applicable to the position.
    • Follow product defense standards and comply with applicable SQF requirements.
    Minimum Requirements
    The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
    • Seven years of related experience in the analysis and design of mechanical systems.
    • Experience managing a technical or engineering team preferred.
    • Proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience with CRM and sales applications, such as Salesforce, preferred.
    • Strong mathematical and analytical skills, including the ability to apply statistical concepts such as frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, standard deviation, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.
    • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions, mathematical formulas, diagrams, and other technical information.
    • Ability to work effectively with both abstract and concrete variables.
    • PLC programming knowledge preferred.
