Join the City as a Management Specialist Supporting the Citys Risk Management Program

Are you an organized, proactive professional who enjoys solving problems, coordinating complex activities, and helping an organization run at its best? Do you want your work to make a meaningful difference in the safety of employees, the protection of public resources, and the delivery of City services?

The City is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Management Specialist to support our Risk Management Program-a vital team dedicated to protecting the City, its employees, and the community it serves. This is an exciting opportunity for a resourceful professional who thrives on balancing priorities, building relationships, improving processes, and turning details into results. As a member of the City Clerks Office and a key partner to the Risk Manager, you will help keep critical programs moving forward while playing an important role in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, contract administration, and cost recovery to protect the Citys financial resources.

About the Opportunity:

Risk Management plays an essential role in keeping City operations safe, responsible, and financially sound. The Division oversees workers compensation and liability claims, third-party cost recovery for damage to City property, contract and insurance review, ADA grievances, OSHA training and compliance, safety policies, and facility inspections.

As the Management Specialist, you will help connect the many moving parts of these programs. You will coordinate activities, maintain accurate records, monitor deadlines and requirements, support employees and departments, and ensure important information and processes stay on track. Your work will help the Risk Manager focus on strategic risk analysis, claims oversight, policy development, and loss prevention.

What Youll Do:

  • Drive Cost Recovery Efforts: Coordinate and track the recovery of costs associated with third-party damage to City property. Maintain supporting documentation, communicate with internal departments and external parties, monitor outstanding items, and help move recovery efforts toward resolution.
  • Champion Safety and Training: Coordinate safety training schedules, track participation and completion, maintain training records, and support ongoing OSHA compliance and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Keep Compliance on Track: Monitor regulatory updates, maintain accurate records, track important deadlines, and help ensure required documentation and processes are completed in a timely manner.
  • Support Contract and Insurance Administration: Monitor contract requirements, insurance documentation, and expiration dates; follow up on outstanding items; and help ensure appropriate records are maintained.
  • Strengthen Risk Management Operations: Maintain the Divisions intranet page, organize program information, support facility inspection activities, and help keep policies, resources, and procedures current and accessible.
  • Provide Responsive Customer Service: Serve as a helpful point of contact for City employees, departments, vendors, and members of the public. Provide timely information, coordinate follow-up, process payments, and assist with designated City Manager phone line(s) as needed.
  • Make the Details Count: Track assignments, coordinate competing priorities, identify items needing attention, and help improve administrative processes that support the Divisions effectiveness.

What Makes This Opportunity Special?

This position offers the chance to make a tangible difference behind the scenes of City government. Your work will help protect public funds, support a safer workplace, strengthen accountability, and ensure that critical Risk Management programs operate efficiently.

For someone who enjoys taking initiative, following through, and seeing the results of their efforts, this role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute to work that matters. Youll collaborate across City departments, develop a broad understanding of municipal operations, and help turn risk management priorities into practical results.

If youre a strong organizer, a thoughtful problem-solver, and a customer-service professional who takes pride in accuracy, accountability, and getting things done, we encourage you to apply.
