Summary:

The Management Analyst II serves as a Special Assistant in the Office of Sports Diplomacy’s Olympic and Paralympic Coordination Office (OPCO) based in Los Angeles. The OPCO is responsible for coordination of State Department equities tied to the LA 2028 Olympics and Paralympics (“the Games”). The purpose of this position is to support the OPCO’s Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator as they develop and implement a strategic vision for leveraging the Games as a platform to promote U.S. values, strengthen international partnerships, and engage key audiences. This includes identifying and targeting specific stakeholders whose collaboration and support are critical to achieving measurable policy outcomes.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs a wide variety of duties necessary to assist planning and implementing of intra-governmental and interagency coordination related to the Games, ensuring effective information sharing and alignment of efforts between federal partners inLos Angeles and Department officials in Washington
  • Assist OPCO leadership in building and sustaining relationships with the
  • S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation, international Olympic and Paralympic officials and oversees Department cooperation withLA28 officials to support USOPC (Team USA), and other major sporting organizations.
  • Support OPCO leadership in the logistical planning of Department-led events, ensuring they are strategically aligned with broader public diplomacy goals to advance sports policy and Administration priorities.
  • Work with the Deputy Coordinator to manage assigned resources, to include budget and procurement; also support the Deputy Coordinator in planning implementing public diplomacy programs, events, and meetings to advance support sports diplomacy efforts in the lead up to and during the Games.
  • Performs relevant administrative planning and implementation for task/project completion and provide support for major organizational analysis, design and implementation projects.
  • Maintains a close and highly responsive relationship with the OPCO’s day-to-day activities.
  • Provides data analysis, record keeping, research and other duties as may be required.
  • Maintains the office travel plan in coordination with the Office of Sports Diplomacy, assists OPCO leadership with Travel Authorizations and Vouchers and tracks office travel expenditures.
  • Plan, manage, and execute complex projects and initiatives, ensuring milestones, deliverables, budgets, and timelines are achieved.
  • Serve as the primary advisor to leadership, providing recommendations, technical guidance, and solutions to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, develop performance metrics, and recommend strategies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with leadership and external partners to implement organizational priorities, resolve issues, and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Prepare analyses, reports, presentations, and policy or operational recommendations to support executive decision-making and organizational planning.
  • Other executive assistant type duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical solutions to business challenges.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience developing reports, presentations, and executive briefing materials.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Finance, Communications, International Affairs, or a related field.
  • 3-5 responsible professional experience in business operations, program management, strategic planning, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects from planning through implementation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with U.S. government grants and exchange programs is preferred.

 

Pay and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $107,000.
